A youth, Babatunde Bashorun and two others, yesterday, pleaded not
guilty before Magistrate S. K. Matepo of Tinubu Magistrate’s court,
Lagos, after being charged with alleged kidnap and r*pe.
Babatunde, 20-year-old Aje Olumayowa, and Babajide Ajayi, 21,
allegedly kidnapped, molested and posted unclad pictures of a female
student of University of Lagos, Akoka on the internet, after she
allegedly turned down love advances from one Babatunde Bashorun three
months ago, at 1, Ajose Street, Enu-Owa area of Lagos Island.
The suspects are facing an eight-count charge of conspiracy, kidnap,
r*pe, assault, taking of unclad photographs and pasting same on the
internet and attempted murder.
The police prosecutor, Supol Orji, told the court that the defendants
committed the alleged crime on April 28, 2013 at about 7:30pm, at

Ajose Street, Lagos Island.
He also alleged that the defendants took turns to have carnal knowledge of the victim without her consent.
He said the accused indecently assaulted the victim by exposing her
unclad pictures which they took while they forced her in turns, to the
public.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants threatened her, that if she reveals how she was r*ped, that she would be killed.
The prosecutor said the offence was punishable under sections 409,
269, 144 (1), 258, 135 (2) 150 (1) (2), 228 and 56 (a) of the criminal
laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
The defendants, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, were granted
bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two suerites each in like sum.
Magistrate Matepo further adjourned the case to October 2, 2013.
