"We Are In A War Against Terrorists In And Outside Our Country"-President Uhuru Kenyatta

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has given a televised address to the Kenyan nation asking citizens to remain resolute in the face of terrorism, after militants killed 36 quarry workers in Kormey on Monday night.

“We are in a war against terrorists in and outside our country,” President Kenyatta said in today’s televised speech broadcast by the BBC.
On Monday night, a witness described horrific scenes of bodies lying a single file after apparent executions, including 3 decapitations in tents as quarry workers slept.
Monday’s killings, which has been claimed by Somalia’s Al-Shabaab group, took place only about 15km from Mandera, the scene of a similar attack that left 28 non-muslims bus passengers dead one week ago.

In light of the recent attacks, Kenya’s embattled police chief, David Kimaiyo, and Interior Minister, Joseph Lenku were forced to resign after rising public anger at the lack of security in border town regions.
Somalia’s Al-Shabaab terrorist network has openly warned Kenyans that it would escalate its activities against the nation in retaliation for the deployment of Kenyan troops into Somalia in 2001 to support Somalia’s transitional government.
Last week Kenya’s teacher and medical professional unions urged members to abandon their posts in the insecure towns bordering Somalia after the Mandera bus attack.
